Join us for Shove Off Day, a free event in partnership with the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation, on Thursday, May 25th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Petersburg National Battlefield! Witness a Juneteenth flag-raising ceremony by United States Colored Troops reenactors and listen to guest speakers who will share the powerful journey of the USCT’s expedition starting at City Point, Virginia.

After the program, take a tour of City Point and the Appomattox Plantation buildings with National Park Service staff. Invited guests include Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, Commonwealth of Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears, and the Mayor of Hopewell, Virginia, and other local officials.

Don’t miss this opportunity to honor the USCT’s significant role in the Civil War and their impact on history.
